When did you register?

So I am incredibly nervous to do anything such as register, however I also requested that my shower be held around 24-25 weeks before I get too uncomfortable or end up on bedrest. That being said, I really need to register soon so my sister can prepare to send out shower invites and registry info, but I'm scared!!! When did you register? I told DH that maybe we'd go the first weekend in May and do it, after my next growth scan appointment at the MFM.

Re: When did you register?

  • The timing of your shower sounds good--even with twins, I'd want to have it by 28 weeks. I started my registry online around 16w and kept working on it till around 24w when my friend sent out the invites for my first shower. ;) I went to each store (Target and BRU) in person once at some point, maybe around 22w, but I did most of it online. That way I was able to read reviews, compare prices between the two stores to see which had a better deal on each item, etc. (also easier considering how tired i was already by that point!)

  • Your bump is adorable!  I registered around 17 weeks & my shower was at 25w6d.  I think that the time you want to hold the shower is perfect.  You definitely won't want to wait too long.  GL to you :-)

  • I think I started registering at 17wks. I did the basics and then when I found out the sexes I did a little more gender specific items.
  • i had my showers at 24 and 25 weeks, so that sounds perfect. i had my first u/s with the MFM at 16 weeks, and i think my mom and i registered after that appointment or thereabouts. i went in to register initially, and then did a lot of it online too.

  • My shower was at 27 weeks, I still felt great!

We registered at 19 weeks, after we had my MFM & OB seperately show us that we were having b/g twins.  I would do it after your next growth scan, since at that time, if you are going to find out the sexes or have them confirmed, it will be done before you register.

  • I won't be having any showers for a while, although based on what I've read on this board I might politley suggest that they move them up just in case. Anyways, we went yesterday to start on the registry for the larger items. I wanted DH with to decide on the bigger items such as stroller and carseats, and also figured it was probably better to test out those things sooner rather than later.  I figured other things I can register online for if I end up needing bed rest or anything, but those are the main things I want to see in person. I also wanted plenty of time to compare prices because if I don't notice that something is less expensive at one place vs. the other, I'm sure at least five of my family members will notice and point it out.

Once we find out the gender I plan to go back and also plan to bring my sis-in-law with so she can tell me what she uses, doesn't use for her baby.

I was nervous about going too, like it would be a jinx or something. But in order to save my sanity I have to believe everything is going to be just fine and relax and just have fun with it. Good luck!

  • I registered around 14/15 weeks.  My first shower was at 20 weeks, so I couldn't hold off for too long.
  • We started to register a week or two after the end of the first trimester, and I think we were pretty much done a couple of weeks after that. ?Your timing sounds good.
  • Ditto the others!

I'm also having my shower at home at about 25 weeks &  registered around 16-18 (although I still mess with them). It felt weird & is even weirder now that I'm 20 weeks & some people already sent their gifts since BRU does a lot of free shipping & since we have to drive 9 hrs, it was nice of guests to ship them so it is less stuff to take but we have 3 car seats, a pack n play & an exersaucer in the office that I'm afraid to even take out & look at!
