I have an oval-shaped red side table in another room that I'm moving to the nursery next to the rocker. I think it is fine to do something fun--and I don't like things to be matchy-matchy . Hth!
I looked and looked when I was doing my boys rooms, and never found anything that was small enough to work, but large enough to be sturdy for when the baby starts crawling etc.
I ended up putting the rocker/glider right next to the bookcase, which has worked out so great. Enough space for books, burp clothes, clock, my water glass etc, all within arms reach.
I bought the nightstand to match his convertable crib. For now we'll use it as a side table next to the rocker, and then he'll have it as a nightstand once the crib turns into a bed.
Re: Side table for rocker??
I got mine at IKEA for $60. It's a bedside table, but works perfectly - I got it in black-brown to match my espresso finish furniture:

I'm looking for one as well. I found a few I like from Target and RH Baby & Child.
