Totally mortified!! Spilled red wine on friends NEW Sofa..

We were at my friend's house for her 2nd DD's christening today.  I was holding my wine with two hands and when I let go with my left, the bottom caught on my wedding ring and tipped the glass and the wine flew out of the glass and all over her sofa...a light powder blue sofa that is probably worth about 2 of me. It was not just a drop either. It was about a 1/4 of a glass. 

My friend was more than gracious and of course I am going to pay for the cleaning. I just cant believe it happened. I was so upset that I had to fle to the bathroom and compose myself.  

We joked that it will be her turn on Friday when she comes for my DDs birthday party it's payback time.  My sofa is white!

Still , I am so upset with myself.

oh my gosh...sounds like something I would do!   How awful!  I sure hope the stain comes out!!!

Bah.  Happens.  It was OBVIOUSLY not on purpose.  We're getting a new couch in a week or two, and DH told me that I wasn't allowed to sit on it while drinking ANYTHING>  HAHAHAHA.  He's right, though.

 

Our current one will be heading STRAIGHT to the playroom where it doesn't matter that it has wine stains...

 

I have a friend who isn't allowed on anybody's couch...she is unable to sit without spilling.  It happens.

I would feel bad too -- my friend bought SUPER expensive jeans and I spilled red wine on them and I couldn't stop apologizing. And those are just jeans!

I have an expensive couch and my friend was over and her daughter puked ALL over her and my couch. TWICE. it was so bad my friend had to strip down to her underwear, hand me her clothes and run upstairs. It came out. I truly (truly) wasn't mad. It's a couch. Sometimes I think I should pour a bottle of tomato sauce on new things I own just to get used to the fact that it WILL get dirty.

Not sure you will see this but dampen the stain with water & put POWDER Oxi clean on it & it will come out.  I've done it several times with whole glasses of red wine that has spilled on our cream carpet & it works everytime.  Yesterday I spilled at my friends house on my cream pants I used water at her house got out what I could & then soaked them in oxi & washed they are fine no stain.
