Tandem stroller recommendations

Looking for some advice:  I'm still deciding between the Graco DuoGlider, Graco Quattro Tour Duo and Kolcraft Contours Options Tandem.  I originally was going to get the Graco SnugRide infant car seats, but have been reading the new recommendations for the bigger SnugRide 32s.  This has prompted me to re-think the stroller situation.  And, I haven't checked it out at BRU, but will Graco car seats fit into the Contours strollers.

 Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Re: Tandem stroller recommendations

  • I just looked on Amazon and saw the Snugride 32 weighs in at over 15 lbs and the Snugride weighs in at less than 8 lbs. I would definitely stick with the lighter seat. The convenience of being able to carry them in their seats is defeated if the seat weighs a ton - consider the weight + baby X 2... You want the lightest seat possible. And you'll have to get a convertible car seat next anyway, so you might as well just wait and see on the height/weight when you need to switch over.

I don't have any of those strollers; I used the double snap n go with the car seats and then moved on the a Baby Jogger City Mini. Out of the ones you listed, I liked the Contours Options the best - it has the best features, IMO. I think the car seats will fit - I know there is a list of compatible seats on their website.

    Whew... hope that helps :)

  • Don't bother getting bigger infant seats. We had to stop using ours (snugrides) at about 7m bc the girls were just to heavy. I think they were about 18lbs a piece at that point on top of the weight of the car seat. We have and looove the DouGlider. It's crazy easy to use with and without the infant seats. It's easy to drive- I like the handles on the Quattro but I don't think you can use 2 snugrides in it bc the front doesn't have a cupholder/tray. I like the tray on the Douglider.

  • We have the Graco Snugrides and the Kolcraft stroller.  We thought about the Graco Safeseats, but decided there was no way we'd be carrying the infant seats when the babies were more than 15lbs. or so anyway.  The Snugrides do fit on the Contours stroller you they just don't clip in so you have to make sure you use the safety belt that comes with the stroller.  It's not a big deal to us.  I don't have anything to compare it to, but I love the stroller as far as double strollers go.  It steers well, has nice features, folds pretty small... though it is heavy, but I think they all will be.  If I had to do it again I'd get exactly what we did all over.

  • I agree with the pp's about sticking with the lighter Snugrides. We had the SafeSeats and they were insanely heavy. We have the Quattro Tour for the boys and love it. You can fit 2 Snugrides in it.

  • I also agree with sticking with the lighter Snugrides! our 15-lb babies are already tough to carry around in the lighter Snugrides and they're only 3 months old; if we had the heavier Snugrides, I would have given up already! Plus as someone said, you'll have to get convertibles anyway so IMHO you might as well have infant carseats that are practical to use as baby carriers.

I just looked at the Kolcraft stroller online and overall I was very impressed My only question: In the pics, it looked like the child riding in back has a very limited view--can basically only see the back of the front-riding child's seat! If that's the case, I wouldn't get it.

  • I would recommend sticking with lighter carseats! I stopped using mine when girls were 4 months because they were so heavy and I had the lighter ones! I didn't have any tandem strollers, but I hear good things about the Kolecraft, except that i *think* you might have to take one of the seats out to get it into the car. DSNG is pretty good, but I used mine only a handfull of times, I hated that it was so long! Now I have 2 SBS strollers and love them both (Bumbleride and City Mini)

  • I love the Kolcraft stroller!! It folds up so easy. It is heavy but they all are. You do not have to take a seat out to fold you. You can take one out in order for it to fold smaller but it will fold with both in. My husband and I call it the cadillac of strollers!
  • I second the Kolcraft Contours!
