Anyone not feel much movement until after 20 weeks?

I'm getting all paranoid...I first felt little movements here & there (like every few days) around 17 weeks but it hasn't really increased that much, some days I've felt a bit more especially in the morning when waking up but I still don't feel them consistently every day or throughout the day & I just need reassurance that I'm not totally crazy. Had an appt last week, hbs were good, he could even tell that baby A was moving a lot (always is on u/s too & he is the one I feel a little more in general), so I do get reassured with that, but I feel like everyone on here posts about feeling all sorts of movement by now & much earlier.

Argh. Thanks :)

  • I didn't feel any definite baby movement until 19w, and it increased only gradually for those first few weeks. By 22w I was able to feel the babies from the outside. One of my placentas was anterior and one was partly anterior so that probably explains why. Do you know where your placentas are?

  • You might also consider renting a fetal doppler for a month or two for peace of mind? (By then you should be able to feel them more.) I'd get the kind with a digital readout so you can tell for sure you're finding two different heartbeats; definitely more reassuring to an expectant MoM! :) I got mine from www.babybeat.com.

  • Yup, baby b's is anterior so that's why I've always been ok with not feeling her so much but a's is posterior & a few days ago I was feeling him much more regularly & much less now... I think that the frequency is supposed to come & go, right?.......... I'm sure I'm being silly, you just get it in your head that you feel things earlier & more with multiples, etc and here I am at the 'average' singleton quickening & still not feeling a whole lot.
  • I have had anterior placentas with both of my pregnancies so it was after 20 weeks with both.
  • I have access to a Doppler at work and use it about once a week. I don't think I'd like to have one at home, I actually don't normally get paranoid like this & go with the flow (I think some recent posts on here have probably not helped) & I think the Doppler might make me a little more obsessive...
  • I didn't feel them at all until after 19 wks, and then not consistently for a few weeks after that. But let me tell you, after they get a little bigger, you will feel them all the time if they are like mine!
  • I had 1 anterior and hardly felt him, even though he was always going nuts on u/s. In fact, I didn't consistently feel either baby until 21-22w. Don't worry, they're probably fine and you'll feel them more consistently once they're bigger
  • Thanks...I appreciate it!
  • Yeah, it is VERY normal for it to come and go and change. During much of my pregnancy I felt Baby A a lot and hardly felt Baby B, and near the end it switched.

  • I have 2 anterior placentas and up until a few days ago haven't really felt them much.  I actually feel baby b a lot more than baby a.

  • Both my placentas are posterior and I barely feel them anyway!  And half the time I am not sure if its them or if its gas bubbles.
