Opinions on Naomi?

We don't want to tell friends or family our name choice until she's here so I need some advice from all of you.. what do you think of Naomi? Our last name is very common so we're trying to think of something a little unusual for the first name.

I love Naomi! I think it is really cute but also classic so it works on an adult, too. Usually I hate names ending in "i" (staci, kaili, etc.) because they seem too trendy and sort of made up, but bible names obviously are classic so with Naomi I think it works. Also, the name means "pleasant" and "agreeable" - what's not to like?

I love Naomi! The only reason it didn't make it onto my short list was that it doesn't sound the greatest with our last name. Otherwise, it would have been a finalist.

Nay-omi. I've never heard it pronounced Nye-omi.?

The way I say it is similar to Nah-oh-mi, but the "ah" and the "oh" kinda of blends into the "oh" and it sounds a little like "nye". That probably doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

It's a pretty name... but I can't help but think of the movie Van Wilder when he is introducing the party girl to the nerds and says her name is Naomi, that's "I moan" backwards! .... sorry!

Funny- last night after reading this post we watched LOST on Tivo. A girl character named Naomi was on the show and when she introduced herself she said, "NYEomi" LOL. She had a British accent so maybe that's why. I think I'd heard it before on that show as well. I know I am not crazy!
