After seeing all the raves on here about pedipeds (and not having success with hard soled shoes for DS right now), I'm thinking about getting him his first pair. His other shoes are a 3 1/2 or 4. The actual sizes at Pediped don't start until 5. The others appear to be based on age (6-12 months, 12-18 months, etc). Have you had success with just ordering the age range your LO is in and they fit? I'm a little hesitant to get the 12-18 month size when DS just turned 12 months and we need them to fit for the summer!
Re: pedipeds sizing question
DD wears a 0-6 month size in Pedipeds and they are the only shoes we have for her. She is a peanut though.
We went to a local department store and tried them on before ordering online.
DD wears about a 5, and she JUST went into the 12-18m with lots of room to grow.
There is a size chart you can print off their website and it works perfect, exactly where their feet measure is where they will be in the pedipeds, at least all 3 times we've used it, it's been that way.
Hmmm...my dd is also teeny, a 2.5-3, and the 6-12 pedipeds fit her great.

Use the chart - it's easy.
FWIW, at 16 months my DD is just now in the 12-18 month size with lots of room to grow.
I have a bigfoot and he outgrew 12-18 at one year. He also measured a 4.5 extra wide at that time.
But try ordering from Zappos or Endless. Free shipping and you can send them back for free too. You can order two sizes and send back the one you don't want completely for free. And their prices are slightly better than the Pediped site - not as much selection, but worth it for free shipping and returns!
I buy mine at tinysoles.com. its free shipping and they have many different brands.
My dd is in size 6-12 and she is 15 mo old. they are just starting to get small for her. good luck!
