razor blade nipples

I dread when my nipples get hard because they hurt so bad, like little razor blades slicing through them.  I look like an idiot holding them when it gets cold but its the only thing that makes them feel better...slightly better. I've also been using my tummy butter on them but so far no improvement.

I told OB and she said to just keep them moisturized and thats the best I can do.

If you get razor nips what do you do?

I seriously kept our house at over 80 degrees all last winter and spring through Kira's first few months.  Our heating bill was obviously ridiculously high but it was worth it just to get by.  I wish I knew what to tell you....

Mine were hard (and so visible!) during pg too, but not horribly painful until I started nursing, so it's a bit different.
