How would you pronounce this name...

and... would you think "boy" or girl"

 

Just curious, as a friend of mine had a baby today, and that is the name.

i would say it lay-ton. i think the name could go either way. i know a woman with a little boy named layton, but then there's leighton meester from gossip girl. is the baby a boy or a girl?

I would pronounce it Lay-ton also.  My nephew is Layton so I guess I think of boy, but I know it can be a girl too.

I think they are going to have to correct a lot of ppl on the pronunciation... just wanted to see if I was correct in assuming, or if I was the only one thinking "LAYTON"

LAYton.  I think it is one of those Riley/Cameron type names that can go either way.

Lee-ton, because my middle name is Leigh and that's how it's pronounced. And I think it's more feminine.

Well I guess that would make some sense, since Leigh = feminine form of Lee.  So that sound can be explained, but I am guessing that he will be correcting people his whole life.
