Anyone have two good sleepers?

DD is the most amazing sleeper ever.  She has been STTN since she was 6 weeks old without a hiccup.  We are honestly spoiled.  She asks to go to bed at night and never once has gotten out of bed.  She also naps for at least 2 hours every day.

Anyway, EVERYONE tells me that #2 is going to be a horrible sleeper and that she will "make up for" how well DD sleeps.  I know this is definitely a possibility but I also think its possible that she may be a good sleeper as well.  Is there any hope for this??

Re: Anyone have two good sleepers?

  • There is hope! I thought I used up all my good sleeper luck with DD#1 also, but DD#2 has been good as well.

  • I have three, but they were not good sleepers at six weeks of age.
  • While I think a lot of it is nature, I also think that kid #2 is usually the better sleeper because they kind of have to be.  You have to put #2 down to deal with #1, and because of that, sometimes #2 falls asleep.  Then #2 learns how to put himself to sleep.

There are many times now that I just put #2 in his crib with paci and lovey and he goes to sleep.  My #1 still struggles with this.

I hope you get two good sleepers.  Non-sleepers are no fun for anyone.

  • I have two very good sleepers. They don't nap very well at school, but at home they are wonderful. They both started SSTN fairly early on, too. It does happen!

  • I have 3 good sleepers.  Kaitlyn sleepwalks now, but they were all good as babies
  • Both of mine are good sleepers. ?DD was sleeping from 8-8 at about 2 months. ?DS was in the NICU and I think that messed with him, but he was sleeping through the night at about 4-5 ?months (before, he would sleep until 4 am then be wide awake). ?DD sleep walks now, but she's still a good sleeper, even on the move :-)
  • My children are 5 and 1. They both sleep straight through the night without problems.

  • F you!

I kid.  Sort of.  My twins were great sleepers from about 5 months to about 2.  It's gone to crap since then - they need to be covered up, she needs to pee, he can't find his binky, etc.  Forget it if one is sick.  I can count on one hand the number of times the baby has slept through the night.  And I don't think genetics have much to do with it because I love to sleep.  I haven't slept more than 6 hours in a row in about 2 years.

  • Our #2 is just as good as #1. We won the baby lottery! #2 eats more frequently and is still waking up once at night and once early in the morning...but she was 6 lbs 8 oz so I don't mind if she's hungry. She goes right back to sleep all night between feedings.?

Your next baby will be awesome, don't worry. ?

  • Yes, there IS hope!! All of our kids were/ are good sleepers!
  • Nope. From all those like me with hideous sleepers from birth - we have to share 'em around. Sorry but I'm sending you a bad sleeper on the karma bus.

LOL. Not really, but if you get 2 good sleepers and I get 2 bad ones I'm on your doorstep for a swap ok?

  • Both of mine were/are awesome sleepers....and were from the get go.
  • Both of my girls have always been awsome sleepers.  They both put themselves to sleep and sleep at least 10 hours a night.  There is hope!
  • we got lucky too, both STTN at six weeks and still sleep great.  Our four year old son usually naps too.  I hope you have the same fate.
