Baby Juice vs. Regular Juice?

What is the difference?  I buy the Gerber juice for DS, but the other day I had a coupon for a free bottle of Publix brand apple juice so I got it.  I looked at the labels of both and started comparing, and ounce for ounce, I did not see any difference in the calories, grams of sugar, etc.  I only give DS juice once a day (about 2 oz) and even then, I dilute it with water so it's not like I go through a ton, but the Gerber containers are so small and end up being much more expensive than buying a large container of the regular stuff.  So, what is the point?

Re: Baby Juice vs. Regular Juice?

  • I use the Motts for Tots.  I've compared it and it is much healthier.  I dunno about the Gerber.  (Also I am a mean mom and water it down Confused)

  • i think they are the same. the smaller containers are just easier to travel with, and because they are in the baby isle they can charge more because people will pay big moula for the sake of their children.
  • I've never bought baby juice. I figured that it's a waste of money, since it's exactly the same thing as buying the store brand 100% juice. They can just charge more for it, because it says that it's specifically for babies.

Also, Francisca: Motts for Tots is actually already 50% water. You're paying more and you're actually getting less juice for your money. DH and I consided buying the Motts for Tots once before we looked at the ingredients and realized that we would be paying more money for the little bit of juice that it contains.

DH and I always buy the store brand (or whatever 100% juice brand is on sale) and we give DD 1 part juice to 2 parts water in a 10 oz. sippy.

  • Thanks ladies!  No more paying big bucks for baby juice for me anymore. Big Smile
