PTing question. She stays dry in diapers but pees in panties

DD will keep a diaper dry all day with maybe one or two accidents.

If I put her in panties, she wets them over and over.

I know it's just something she's going to need to relearn, but it feels like PTing all over.

Anyone else experience this?  Any tips?

  • I'm not trying to be snarky here but maybe its because she's only 1.5?  I think that is WAAAY early to expect a kid to get and be ready for PTing.
  • I was thinking the same thing - she's probably not ready.

  • Ditto the other posts.  Also If she is only peeing once or twice a day are you sure everything is ok?   Is she getting enough liquids?

  • Wow. She just turned 16 months old. That's really, really early to expect her to stay dry. I don't even know how she would understand the concept at that age. We didn't even attempt to PT until DD turned 2. Even then it was a process. On top of that, there was a study published recently that determined that there is a hormone that plays a huge part in PTing. The child essentially has to produce this hormone to understand PTing and stay dry. This doesn't kick in until after 2 years old. Just curious, but is there a reason you're pushing this at such a young age?
  • In diapers she tells us when she needs to potty and pees in it about 8 times a day. She dislikes being wet so she likes to use the potty. I was suprised that she would this young, but I was not about to stop her.
