How did you go about doing background check on Daycare?

I am a member of care.com but that's really for babysitters.  I want to do a background check on a specific in home daycare in my area.  TIA

  • Call the state and check on their license.  WI has an online database that lists DCP violations.  I am also a member of a local chat board and asked the women there.

  • In North Carolina, all childcare centers of 3 or more children are regulated and inspected regularly, and the reports are available. Is this what you mean my a 'background check'? The centers are required to be licensed or accredited.  I would assume that it is this way in your state as well?

For example, here is the site for NC: https://www.childcareservices.org/fs/compliance.html

  • Thank you and wow did that help.  I found out some information on this one particular place I was interested in and thanks to your post I will not be going there.
