NBR: Sides to go with Chicken Parm.

The ILs are coming for dinner on Monday for DH's bday and he wants chicken parm. What should I serve with it? My first thoughts were pasta, garlic bread, and salad, but that seems so boring. Should I do a vegetable instead of salad? Any ideas?

  • I think what you suggested sounds great.

  • I say salad.  We always do that with pasta and never get sick of it.  I love salads.

Do you mind sharing your chicken parm recipe?

  • i think what you suggested is great. ?i never serve veggies with chicken parm... just whatever is in a salad.
  • linguini noodles with olive oil, parm, garlic and carmelized shallots...yum!
  • Ditto what everyone else said.  Sounds great!

  • try sauteeing some zucchini and other veggies in some italian dressing and adding some fresh grated parm cheese over top? you can also add some oregano and other herbs for flavor? and for dessert, homemade tiramisu? allrecipies.com has some great quickies for that...

I agree, I have a tiramisu recipe I love from there! But DH wants a chocolate whipped cream cake which is fine with me, too!

Thanks for the ideas!   I don't have a chicken parm. recipe exactly, just a little of this and a little of that. I always make my own sauce - my grandmother would disown me if I didn't. It's basically chicken cutlets, topped with sauce and fresh mozz.

Tyler Florence has a similar recipe on Foodtv.com that looks like the same idea.
