Best bottles for gas?

Hi - my son is 3 weeks old and we started him off w/ the Evenflo glass bottles.  He would suck down his formula in minutes and he was very gassy (I think b/c we couldnt get the air out).  I just switched to the Playtex drop-ins and he is still gassy, it also takes him 45+ minutes to finish 4 ounces.  Any recommendations for a good bottle?

TIA

Re: Best bottles for gas?

  • I personally have found no difference with any bottle and reducing gas.  Stasa takes the Playtex Vent Airs the best.  I hated the Dr. Brown's, but a lot of women on here swear by them.

LOL  It's so true that every baby is different - I was going to say that Avent is my #2 choice.

You could change the nipple if it is taking him 45 minutes to finish 4 oz.  They have slow, medium, and fast flow nipples.  We are using drop ins too and our baby is gassy as well.  It is impossible to burp our DD though and I think that is the real problem for us.  I might try a new bottle in a few days if it does not get better.

  • Ugh, I used those stupid Evenflo glass nursers for about 2 days, I threw them all away, they were horrible.

We have been using Dr. Browns and they are awesome!  Don't let the parts scare you, they take me no longer to clean than the other bottles.

  • I had major issues with gas with C using Dr. Browns then Avent and finally loved Drop-ins.

J we started Drop-ins and she had a hell of a time. Now we use Born Free glass, they not only solved her gas but also her reflux!

    ?

Same thing with here. ?I was using Medela bottles and Abby was doing horribly and limiting how much she would drink (sometimes 2 1/2 to 3 oz). ?Switched to Born Free (which has a venting system that is less scary looking than Dr.Browns) and she is doing much better (drinking anywhere from 4-5oz.)

  • I have been using since december when the twins came home the born free and i really like them like someone else said they help with the gas and if a baby has a reflex. my twins like them alot yeah you have extra parts to clean but it dont bother me at all. I really didnt want to use the drop ins so that is why i went with the born free.
  • I use born free and love them.  I think they really help out with the gas situation.
