3rd Trimester

39 weeks and still no progress???

I'm 39 wks and after going to the doctor yesterday found out that I still have not dilated! He has dropped some, is head down, and I am just beginning to thin. The doctor scheduled an induction for Tuesday, my due date. Anybody else in the same boat? I'm so nervous to be induced with zero progress. I would much rather labor on my own.

  • I'm not in the same boat because I'm only 28 weeks. However, when my mom was pregnant with me they told her she wouldn't have me for at least 3 weeks, she had me the next day!
  • Yep, same here. Due date is Saturday and I have absolutely no progress. My OB even said she hasn't dropped yet. Crying
  • I've been 1cm and 50% effaced for 3 weeks.  progress doesn't mean anything.  most people don't get induced until a week after their due date, why is your doctor inducing you so early?
  • Why induce on your due date?  Is there some reason for this?  Why isn't your doctor letting you go past your due date?  It is much riskier for more unnecessary interventions if a woman is induced that has no progression.
  • I am 40 weeks tomorrow and I have been 1 cm for 3 weeks and the baby is still very high. I go back on Monday to get checked again and then schedule an induction. At that time I will be 41 weeks. Unless there's a reason I'd try to wait beucase you could very well just be a few days late and not have to get induced. That's what I'm hoping for!
  • This might seem crazy, but my doctor is inducing on my due date because he will be leaving for vacation a few days after it, and I am much more comfortable with him instead of a random doctor I've never even met.

My status is very similar to PP- I'm 40 weeks this coming Friday and am only about 1 cm dilated and 70% effaced, baby is still very high.  My doc will see how things look at my next appt (next Tues) and may schedule an induction at 41 weeks based on that.
