3rd Trimester

Fundal Height 8 Weeks Larger...WOW!

So, after my kick count scare yesterday (she's moving like crazy again, thank God) I went in for an appointment today (after two weeks because of significant weight gain 18lbs in two months) and now I'm measuring at 35 weeks...that's 8 too many.  I know fundal height is not a perfect representation and you can always expect to be plus or minus two or three but 8??!! Wow.

One of three thing is going to happen:

  • I'm going to give birth to a 15lb-er
  • Two are going to pop out of me
  • My daughter is going to be born with 4 legs

I swear I feel like there is an octopus in my tummy. I can feel her kicking me in my left rib, right hip bone and another miscellaneous location at any given time.  My belly is massive.  I'm so confused.  I can't wait to go in for another ultrasound.

Is is possible there are two?  Are my dates wrong?  What's up with me? Or is she just massive?  My measurments have been as follows:

Jan: should have been 16 I was 19 (no big deal)

Feb: should have been 19 I was 21 (perfect)

March:should have been 23 I was 30 (wow, bigger than average)

April: should have been 27 I am 35 (ok, now I'm getting a little scared)

Anyone with any info or experiences?  I'd love to know!!!

First of all I don't know if you got my last message about the beautiful name you choose but that's my son's name too!  Good choice.

Secondly, he said nothing.  I asked him, "so how am I measuring" and he said, "big" then he gave me the numbers....he said I want to see you in two weeks and walked out the door.  I'm not happy with my ob office. I feel so left in the dark, like it's not my body and nothing really matters to them.  SUCKS.  I called back in because my mind is stirring and they said that I should most def. come back in for an ultrasound.  I'm going on Tuesday.  I just wish I had some idea....8 weeks larger is way larger.  You know what I mean?  Just something strange going on.

    Crazy huh?

  • If you have had ultrasounds, they would have definitely picked up on two babies. Maybe you're having a large baby, or have excess amniotic fluid.
  • whoa! 8 weeks is a huge difference! i've been measuring 4-6 weeks ahead so am also going in for another ultrasound. They will check your fluids as well as babes size to see why you're measuring so large. GL!
  • Yes, when was your last ultrasound? ?I can tell you I have always measured big. ?I think I measured:

    16wks(actual) - 20wks(measured)

    20wks ? ?- ? ? 26wks

    28wks ? ?- ? ? 36wks

You sound about right for twins, but if you had a level II they should have caught that. ?Is your baby measuring big? ?GD? ?

    Good Luck!!!

    Melissa :)?

  • You could have too much amniotic fluid. I know it will cause you to measure bigger than normal. I am surprised your OB did not order an ultrasound. Good Luck!
  • Jenerally on 0-6 months board, I believe was measuring way off, due to excess fluid. Hopefully you will know more after your ultrasound tuesday. Good luck!
