Well, as you may have seen yesterday I noticed a piece of nylon when I wiped yesterday after peeing. I decided to wait until my appt this morning for my p17 shot since I had no other signs or symptoms of anything being wrong.
This morning as I was going to the bathroom and getting in the shower I wiped and again a piece of stitch this time with knots (like 4 or 5 knots) so I knew that this HAD to be my stitch and the end that was knotted which sent me into hysteria. I was perfectly calm until I got to the office and talked to the receptionist where I proceeded to burst into tears.
To make a long story short my doc was in surgery all day at the hospital so the NP checked me, said I was closed, but she did see a piece of stitch hanging but was not going to touch it. Sent me to L&D for monitoring and a cervical length measurement and while they did that they paged my doctor to ask about the stitch.
Turns out my doctor had to lift my bladder to do my cerclage and there were two stitches placed. One of nylon stitch for my cerclage and another for the vaginal mucosa due to the procedure with my bladder that was of dissolvable stitching. The stitch I saw was the dissolvable stitch that should have come out. I was not warned of this and wish I had been (would have saved me the stress and the long day in L&D), but my cervix is still closed, 4.2 cm and no contractions. I am surprised it took this long for the dissolvable stitches to come out. They were placed on 2/27!!!
Anyway....I'm still here and hoping for full-term and for the person who asked about pain associated with a torn cerclage my doctor said I would definitely know something was happening if it did tear. Many women do not feel themselves dilating to the stitch, but if you tear the stitch you would most definitely have pain AND bleeding associated with the tearing. Thanks for all the well wishes!

Re: Update on possible torn cerclage....
Phew! I'm so glad that it wasn't the real thing. You don't know how many times I've wondered up to this point as to whether or not I'm either dilated or have torn through the stitch. I constantly check EVERY time I go to the bathroom AND when I think I feel moisture to make sure I'm not bleeding or that my sac hasn't ruptured. It's definitely stressful.
Well, here's to you making it another weeks!
So sorry u went through all that stress. I have a stitch at the top of cervix and at the bottom (2 stitches), never been told about any of them dissolving.
Funny Story, After my last one was removed at 35 weeks they said they couldn't get it all b/c of scar tissue but that they had made cuts in it so i could still dialate and they said it would fall out during delivery. I went for my 6 wk. post-partum visit and the damn thing was still in there but they were able to pull it out.
Mine looked like thick blu dental floss/fishing wire w/ tons of knots in it spaced apart. Weird!
I did all I could to keep my son in with the cerclage and p17 shots & modified bedrest and was induced @ 39 wks. b/c of GD.
