I took my G.D. 1-hour test on Monday afternoon. They told me that they would have the results back on Tuesday. I haven't heard from their office so should I assume that I'm in the clear? I didn't have G.D. with my first pregnancy and have only gained 9.5 lbs at 27 weeks ...
Re: Gestational Diabetes?
I would call your doctor...I would never want to assume anything.
i had mine monday 4/6 they didnt call me til friday 4/10 to tell me i failed! boooo. then i had to go this past monday and do the 3hr one. my office is closed today, so i will be calling tmrw first thing to see if they have the results.
they always tell you "itll be a few days" ..but it amazes me that they lie! blood coagulates in about a half hour -ish. so the lab processes it and puts it in right away, its just the OFFICE that takes forever to get back!
I worked in an ER and and the lab would call constantly and tell ppl their labs were expired and needed redrawn.
Weight gain (or lack thereof) is not related to GD.
Also, the 1-hr is only a screen for the potential of GD. The 3-hr is diagnostic. I wouldn't be ocncerned if I hadn't heard back yet. If they need you to take the 3-hr they would have called.
perhaps it is my inner snark coming out- but would you perchance be ashleyandty. you have two posts, and she is the person who posted 2 days ago about how much weight people have gained and announced her 9.5 lb gain at 27 weeks also and got flamed.
whatever- if you are concerned then call
Proud mama to a boys- 6/17/09 - a girl 2/23/11- and a boy 8/20/12
That is me, actually ... I didn't know I got flamed. I have two accounts and meant to sign onto my AshleyandTy account but didn't realize I signed into this one until after I posted.
Why was I flamed?
Um weight gain is no indication of GD. GD is caused by the plecenta so the two are NOT related.
Now to answer your question usually they won't call you and tell you unless you have GD. However they had my phone number wrong so when I failed the one hour they were calling the wrong number and I didn't find out for 2 weeks at my appointment. Either way going a week or two with it untreated isn't going to really matter. Call your OB's office if you are truly concerned.
