An older name you don't hear too often.

Has a hint of the Marilyn Monroe era but NOT Marilyn.

It isn't popular where we live. It was my grandmother's name and that is the only one I have EVER met. I teach 3rd grade and there is not one Lillian in my school either. So I am pretty comfortable with it. I didn't want a name that was made up or never heard of. I just didn't want one that I hear a lot. Thanks for all the comments though.

I think the name is great- but, if you are looking for a name that isn't extremely popular, Lillian might not be it. It's been climbing for quite awhile now, and is likely in the top 30 for 2008 in the US. It's not as popular in some states, but, even MORE popular in others- so, if that's important to you, you might want to check again.

But, I love it anyway!

This. Plus many baby girls are just being named Lily (very popular on the SS charts, as is Lillian), so it is doubtful she'll be the only Lily in her class - but still a great name!
