Baby Names

Girl names - WDYT?

Gracyn Kate and Holtyn Faith if having twin girls.

Re: Girl names - WDYT?

  • I think Gracen is better than Gracyn but still nms.  Holtyn doesn't sound like a girl's name to me, and I don't like the "y" in it.

    I don't like either- sorry.

  • I don't like them. At all.
  • Very unique...  I think that they'd be the only Gracyn & Holtyn around!
  • I don't like them at all.

  • I like unusual names, can anyone recommend any? I should've said that in my original post, sorry!

  • Kate and Faith are nice, the other names are horrible....sorry.
  • Holtyn? It took me 2 minutes to read that. Hotly? Holyn? Hoytyn? I very rarely tell people their choices are awful...but that is awful.

Gracyn is nms but it could work. Both middle names are sweet.

  • Gracyn is ok but it looks like you like the name Grace but are afraid its too popular so you made up a name similar to Grace....Holtyn is terrible. Holten wouldn't be too horrible for a boy, but it definitely does not sound like a girls name at all.

  • I'd go with Gracen and Holden if anything, but they kind of sound like boy names, if that's okay with you.
  • I think I figured out why I don't like Holtyn for a girl.  It sounds a lot like Holden (like Holden Caulfield, from The Catcher in the Rye) and that is definitely a boy name.

Holden would be a cute name for a boy though.  And it is literary so no one can say you made it up and J.D. Salinger fans will all know where it came from.

  • I don't like Grayson and Holten for a girl.... sorry, they sound like boy names to me....  but I do love them for boys.

I like your middle names... anything more feminine for the FNs???

  • Grayson and Holton are boy names and I really don't like them for a girl.
  • Hate the spelling of both first names. And if you didnt know they were girls, Gracyn and Holtyn sound like Grayson and Holden which are boys names.?

  • Neither. Both remind me of boys names. I don't even care for the names for boys.

ETA- unusual names are nice when they are part of your family tree or ethnicity. Sasha comes to mind for a russian couple. Someone yesterday posted Leisel and she is austrian and german, so it fits well for her.

  • NMS- neither. Holtyn is really awful. Sorry.
  • Hi Girls,?

I just lurk here. I am usually on The Knot working on wedding plans. I have found that looking at wedding invitations can be inspirational for baby names. I have a mental list of names that I might use in a few years that I have found while looking at invites. ?Or maybe you could look at websites for birth announcements to get baby name ideas.?

  • I think the first names are a little too out there. Holtyn is just awful. Gracyn is not as bad but I think you could do better. Something like Gracelyn, Gracie or Gracelle is more feminine if you don't want to go with regular Grace.
  • I'd prefer Grace. Or maybe Gracen. Not into the Y. I like Kate as amn as well as Katherine or Kathleen. I LOVE Grace Kathleen. For something different, Gracen Kate is cute.

I hate Holtyn. How about Hadley Faith.

  • My eyes, my eyes!

Sorry, these are bad. I can even deal with Gracen Kate and maybe...Holten Faith, or Holden Faith.

Why the abuse of the letter "Y"? No need to use a Y when an E will suffice!

J.D. Salinger fans would know where it came from, and would wonder why you were naming your daughter after a drunk, suicidal, disturbed teenager. I'd stick with Grace, Faith, and the like.

  • I actually like both, but better with 'e's instead of 'y's.. However, both ending in '-en' is really matchy.. Not that this is a major issue, just something to consider!
  • Gracyn=  D minus

Holtyn =  EPIC FAILURE.  I thought it actually read "HOT-lyn".

  • I'm glad I've got a ways to go before I have these babies because I'm a bad baby namer! lol  Some of yalls replies are really funny, I didn't know they were so horrible. Sorry to make everyone gag Ick!  I like the Hadley Faith idea. I honestly didn't even think about the abuse of the "y" when the "e" would suffice. Thanks for enlightening me on the Holtyn deal, definitely don't want to name my baby after a drunk, disturbed teenager. Thank you all for your honest opinions!!!
  • I'm sorry, I really don't like them.  What about Grace?  It's so pretty all on its own.  Holtyn sounds masculine and fake.
