3rd Trimester

NBR - Biggest Loser Question

I haven't been able to find any answers elsewhere, so I'll ask her.  DH and I only started watching Biggest Loser about a month or so ago, so we missed the early days where they explain more.

What are those black bands that many/most of the contestants wear on their biceps?  Surely a pedometer isn't accurate up there -- is it a BP/pulse meter or something??

Re: NBR - Biggest Loser Question

  • I've watched since day one and don't remember them every saying anything about them. Hmmm

  • It's a Body Bug. It registers your activity, calories burned, and heart rate, AND it's a pedometer.

There's a comp program where you enter your calorie intake and it connects with the arm band to add up how many calories you've burned all day and how many more you're allowed to eat, etc.

It's pretty cool- my trainer at my old gym tried to get me to buy one but I'm cheap and calculated the whole thing myself at MyFoodDiary.com ($9 a mo)

  • I think it is a pedometer or calorie burning counter thing.  They never mention it but all the contestants in all the seasons wear them.
  • Thank you!  It has been driving me nuts because sometimes I see them and sometimes I don't -- depends on how high they push their sleeves up when they're sweaty, I guess.

  • I've been watching the Biggest Loser since the second season, and I never even noticed the arm band thing.

Welcome to the viewing audience though!   It's my favorite show.   I'm obsessed.   Although, it's gotten a little more depressing recently now that some conestants are weighing less than me.   Sigh.   Pre-pregnancy, they'd be around my weight at the finale!    Oh well.    I'll have a huge loss all in one day....around May 31st.....

Yeah, I don't think they've ever really explained it on the show - but they did do a product placement on one episode.

Welcome to the audience! I can't believe how into that show we are. DH always pretends that it's "my show" but he's just as addicted as I am.
