Re: Need tips on how to paint a tree on the wall.....

  • We are doing a palm tree with monkeys. We were originally going to use a paint by number mural (from BRU) but after I little research I found some vinyl ones on etsy and another site.  So you might want to doa  search for a vinyl sticker that you could use if you'd prefer that to painting.

  • Loading the player...
  • I've heard of people sketching it out andthen using a projector.  We're just doing a decal though, there are SO many tree options out there!
  • Ours had intricate branches, so I printed the photo out on multiple sheets of 8x11 comp paper...taped it all back together (like a puzzle), taped it to the wall, and traced it onto the wall using transfer paper which you can find at a craft store or fabric store.  I found some at JoAnns in the sewing notions area.  Special note, don't use the graphite page because it smears...use one of the colored papers.

  • Vinyl wall decals on Etsy! We're doing a nontraditional, safari theme, and I want a white umbrella tree that's 6x8ft on the indigo wall behind the crib, We thought we'd paint it at first, but I found a dealer on Etsy who can do it for $140 for that huge size. Awesome!

Some of the dealers do custom work if you send them a picture,

  • I painted one on our nursery wall.  I sketched the tree on some bulletin board paper (I am a teacher so I had easy access...but you could use brown package wrap too).  Then I cut it out and hung it on the wall and loosely (and lightly) traced around it.  Then I painted.  It wasn't very hard as long as you aren't trying to do something extremely precise.

  • Lots of cute decals out there...just an idea.
