WWYD: company picnic

we're having a company picnic this weekend. it was originally scheduled for 1pm-5pm but they bumped it up an hour for some reason so now it's 12pm-4pm.

DD normally naps around 12:30pm or even 1pm. the earliest i've ever gotten her down is 11:30am but who knows. she'll nap til 3pm or so. yesterday she got a quick 20 minute car nap in the mid-morning and was a disaster by 2pm.

i don't have much desire to go to the picnic but we're a small company and it will look bad if we're not there. but what do i do about her nap? just go early (maybe car nap on the way) and hope that she lasts for a couple hours and leave when she starts melting down? or do our normal thing, try to get an early nap, and go late whenever she wakes up?

Re: WWYD: company picnic

  • I would go early and then leave when she starts melting down -- it's the perfect excuse and I'm sure people will understand. You never know -- she might last a little longer than usual because of the fresh air and different people (I'm sure you'll have to deal with crankiness later, but ...)

  • Can you get there for noon and then leave early or do you have to stay until 4?  If you can leave whenever, I would be there for noon and then leave if/when meltdowns start happening.  Then a little car nap on the way home.

But I suppose going late would work too.  But you'd probably wouldn't be able to be there that long though, right?

  • I'd do an early nap and go when she wakes.

  • Is leaving her at home with DH an option?

If not then I'd go at noon and leave at 1:30.
