XP: need advice possible m/c

Hi, I'm new to this board.  Just wondering if anything like this has happened to anyone.  I was spotting about a week and half ago for a day.  It was not red blood but I was concerned.  They sent me for blood work and an ultrasound.  My hcg went up from 42000 to 54000 in 2 days.  The ultrasound showed the baby measuring right for 6 to 7 weeks but no heartbeat.  I went back today (8weeks) for an ultrasound and they found the heartbeat but said it was slow and the baby was measuring 6 weeks.  They have me going back for an ultrasound next week but prepared me for miscarrige.  Did anyone go through this and everything was ok, or is this pretty much a straight forward miscarriage?

So sorry you are going through this.  I would say if you have a hb you have hope.  I would def try to keep busy until your next appt.  So sorry for the anxiety.  Hold onto hope!

With my DD I was measuring a week behind for a while.  I started spotting right after my BFP and went to the ER.  They did my HCG level and said it was 600- nothing could be seen on the u/s.  I went back to the doctor 4 days later and my HCG level had gone up (maybe it was 1,200?) and they said by 2,000 they could see the baby and scheduled another u/s for that Friday.  I went Friday and still nothing except a sac and yolk sac.  I was suppose to be over 6 weeks at that point but measuring just 5 weeks.  I went back a week later for another u/s and there was my DD- measuing over 7 weeks!  Somehow in one week she grew over 2 weeks, the doctor said sometimes babies just "take a little while to get there".  So I do think there is hope- good luck!!

Thanks for your responses, I am so afraid to get my hopes up.  It's so hard playing the waiting game, especially when you're a nut like me and google the symptoms and read all of the bad stories.  I'm just having a hard time letting go and knowing that I can't control this.
