Your best comeback to a rude pg comment - I want to hear it!

Speaking of things not to say to a pg woman...

Most of the time, I'm just too shocked to come up with a good witty snarky comeback line when people make a rude/stupid comment... And since throat punches are usually forwned upon IRL, I'd like to hear YOUR great combacks - if you don't mind me stealing them for my own personal use Smile

Re: Your best comeback to a rude pg comment - I want to hear it!

  • My fave:

"When are you due? Your SO big!"

"Oh? Huh?... *blank stare*...I'm not pregnant."

  • Loading the player...
  • I need to hear them too. I feel like I shouldn't say anything back because I dont want to seem impolite, but I had a couple comments yesterday about being huge and that I must be having twins. I want to know what people say to that!
  • If someone said something to me, re: my belly, or how big i was...I would say: You know there are some things you DON'T say to a pregnant woman...that's one of them!

  • I don't know but I wish I had good comebacks for people who make comments on what you do with your child. Like the b*tchy little hobag who insisted my younger DC must be dying of heat and told me to "unzip that baby!".

I wish I had said "Oh, you must be her mother?", or at least stared her down with my nastiest look. But I didn't instead I just tried to get away. We were in Target, it was 10 degrees out and my 6 month old was in a snowsuit, but not a huge thick fluffy one. We also had a blanket for her, but the blanket was not on her. And her hat was off and hood pulled down. And we had been in the store literally 10 minutes. DC was just fine! Smiling and laughing and happy. And not too warm at all. Not to mention why would I get her unbundled when I am about to go back out into the snow and cold? (We were in the checkout).

    GRRRRRRR.

  • I must admit I've never had anyone say anything rude to me like in the previous rude comment thread below (or at least if they said something rude to me I ignored them or didn't notice), but I have to say that the rudest thing I've experienced is people staring at my belly.   When I haven't seen someone in like a week or two, I walk into the room and their eyes IMMEDIATELY go right to my belly, and I know they're wondering how much bigger I've gotten.  I HATE that.  I always say something like, "You know, my eyes are up here" and point to my eyes or something.  Then I flat out tell them how much I hate that people only see my belly and not just me!
  • I got the "was it planned?" by a friend of ours.

She got ":::blank stare:::: well I planned it, we'll see what DH thinks after I tell him I poked holes in his condoms...[insert me laughing] What a strange question"

BTW  I didn't particularly care for this girl - so that is why the rude response.

  • This didn't happen to me, but it did happen to someone on this board and I still LOL when I visualize it.  I guess the Bumpie was at the store and some stranger put their hand on her belly and left it there, so the Bumpie put HER hand on the other person's belly and left it there.  I just thought that was so funny and probably looked just as odd.  Even my own family asks if they can't touch my belly.  I would have no idea what to do if a stranger did this.  Well, I do now...
  • I just cry. Sad, but true. And I can verify it makes people feel like crap for saying it.

Yesterday, DH's grandpa said, "well, you probably won't show too much until the end, because larger women tend to hide it better".

I didn't even know how to respond. I think I just said "OK, __________(his first name)" and walked out. We were on the way out anyway, but I was embarrassed b/c it was in front of family. Well, I was just ready to go, but then the grandmother forced him to come out and apologize, which was even worse because it was a typical man apology (I'm sorry if I upset you, but I was just trying to say that bigger women hide their pregnancy better.)

God forbid we show the ability to CREATE LIFE...how embarrassing for us!

Um, yeah. The Bump be too crazy for pics of my kid.
