Postpartum fashion question

I graduate about 2-3 weeks after I have this baby.  I just ordered some shoes to go with a pencil skirt that I'd been planning on wearing for my grad.  Then today, it dawned on me that my tight-ish pencil skirt might not work out so well postpartum (duh, why hadn't i ever considered that before?)  Anyway, I'm not so worried about the skirt fitting as I am about what kind of undies I can wear with it.  I'll still be needing gross pads about then, won't I?  Are there any kind of "suck it in" type garments that have a full crotch but that won't show panty lines?  I'm thinking there's got to be some kind of a shorts-like sucker-inner but I don't visit the undergarment section too often so I'm not sure.

  • I don't think that you will need the granny pad by then, but I would get a back up outfit just in case.  congratulations!  graduations are the best!

I started reconsidering the whole outfit as soon as this issue dawned on me, but I'd just spend a fairly large amt (well, for me anyway) on shoes to match my skirt!

  • I just remember my tummy wasn't flat then.  can you wear a shirt that would cover the area a bit?  that might help.  I can't believe you did 4 years of grad school with kids!  I bow down to you.  I thought it was hard and I was single.

Aw, thanks!  I started when L was just 4 months old, so doing it with kids is all I've ever really known.  If I'd have had my first child midway through, I think it would have been a lot harder, but juggling school/family was what I was used to.

I'm anticipating a jiggly belly for sure.  I don't have a shirt yet but am looking at some that cover/disguise the area!

  • as long as the shirt covers it, you will be fine.  you will be in a gown 1/2 the time anyway!  I am itching to go back to school!  I love graduations.  I hope that you get a nice sunny warm day!

  • I'm 3 weeks pp today, and there is noooooo way I could look good in a pencil skirt. And while I'm not wearing the granny pads, I am still wearing the granny panties (thanks to a c-section) and regular ultra-thin pads with regular bleeding still. Could you go for more of a flowy skirt?

  • Spanx is a brand of all kinds of "suck it all in" undergarments. ?I know they make a bike short type that is for tummy and leg control and has a full crotch so you could still wear a pad without needing underwear. ?They are great things to have for certain outfits. ?I think most department stores carry Spanx or check online. ?Congratulations!
  • I second spanx.  You can even wear underware under them with the pad and then the spanx on top.  Double the suck in power.  Congrats!
