I don't know what it is about pregnancy that makes ones parents become insensitive pricks. My parents have managed to utterly ruin my Easter...thanks folks! Here are a few gems:
- After sending a 24 week pic of my belly to them on email, my dad says 'wow your huge'...awww dad, you say the nicest things.
- After seeing 24 week pic of belly, my mom says 'you look like you're ready to go at any minute. you're huge!' again, such kindness!
- After telling both of them that we don't plan on telling anyone what the baby's name is going to be, they both hang up the phone on me. Gosh, the LOVE!!!
This is the perfect time for a large glass/bottle of wine, but due to the fetus, i shall refrain.
Re: VENT: Insensitive parents
OMG, that is so awful of them. No one should tell a pregnant woman she's huge or about to pop. I'm sorry but it's rude.
We're also not sharing our baby name. I hope we don't have that reaction from family members. I'm sorry your parents are sucking it up right now!
ah, i don't get it either and i'm getting a headache trying to figure out how not telling them the name can possibly be something to be pissed over. it boggles my mind. my dad is especially "insulted" that we're not telling him.
I was prepared for the belly rubs today, but I wasn't prepared for the "Wow, you're big already!" comments. Or the "You are going to have a huge baby!" comments.
It's really insensitive... and the big baby comments are just plain scary.
::prays for a healthy baby that weighs less than 10 lbs::
I bet my parents can beat yours when it comes to insensitive remarks. Just this morning my dad says, at church mind you, "You need to lose weight, you're getting too fat". BTW, he had said something like that about a month ago too, but this morning it really pissed me off. Lose weight? A 5-month pregnant woman? What the fvck is he talking about? At least it wasn't DH that said this, I would get divorced!
