2nd Trimester

Just need to vent ... (long)

I recently went from working full time on the day shift to full time on the night shift. I got a great increase in pay, but night shift is not so good! I recently posted about being worried about babysitting since my husband and I both work nights. I sent an e-mail to the day supervisor asking some questions about going per diem (picking up time on my own schedule) and got a less than pleasant response back. Basically she told me I should have mentioned this to her before she "went to the trouble of finding me full time hours." It really hurt my feelings because I feel like I'm a good worker and even if it's just for now would like to think she'd love to have me as a full time employee ... anyway ... it's just making me feel as if I should find another place to work.

  • Typical nursing bs.  Either they (management) are there for you or they could care less.

  • That's exactly right ... I just wish I could find somewhere to work with management that cared a little more about their employees and didn't just pretend to.

  • You are not that from me...lol.

  • Oh ... Are you in management? And in need of a new employee? Cause you've got one!
  • Nah...I don't think they could pay me enough to deal with the bs that goes on.  I love the unit I work on.  10 bed closed unit...small gorup of nurses and a small group of patients.  Quite content until I graduate from grad school.  What type of nurse are you?

  • OB ... I just went from postpartum to antepartum. I like the type of nursing I do. Just not loving management. I feel like it's time for a change but I'm thinking that will have to hold off until after maternity leave.

  • Not a nurse but I have a very good friend who is one up here in Canada and well I think management in general sucks ass, no matter where you are, as the general rule. I'm sure there are exceptions, my gf loves her job (neo-natal nurse) but the stories she tells me about the politics are unreal.

She had the opportunity to move into management and declined.?

You are right around the corner from me- I'm in Stow, too. I used to work at the lab in Ravenna's hospital. Hospital politics in general is B.S- never had to deal with the nursing managers, though (they kept clear of us in the lab unless they wanted to yell at us, LOL).
