Nickname for Colton

One name I'm considering for a boy is Colton.  I could see either Cole or Colt being a nickname and wondering if one comes to mind first for other people.

I thought Cole first.  Colt reminds me of a horse.

My first thought was Colt but then I thought of guns! Plus, I just don't like it. Definitely go with Cole.

Why does he need a nickname. If you like Cole or Colt better, why would you name him Colton?

I taught a Colton. We called him Colton at school, and his mom would call him Col (which is how she spelled it on a permission slip once). I like Colton better than Cole or Colt.

Colt came to mind first.  I like all three though.

My nephew name is Colton. My SIL insists he is called Colton but my BIL calls him Cole from time to time. I like them both.  Not as much of a fan of Colt.

Maybe Cole first, but it's a toss up.  You could also call him Tony.

I knew a "J____ Colton" and everyone called him JC, I don't know what the J part was.

My brother's name is Cole, so I'm fond of that name.  I do think of a horse when I see Colt.

My nephew's name is Colton...MIL likes to call him "Co-Co", "Colty" and "Cokey". I'd stick with plain old Colton
