Babies: 9 - 12 Months

So, DD will not be getting an Easter basket this year :-(

We bought stuff to put in it, and even bought the stupid grass, but she had an ear infection & bad diarrhea all week & DH was working 2 days straight & I just didn't get out to get her a basket.  I saw some at the supermarket, but I wanted to go to a knick-knack store & get her a more "original" one, hopefully a beachy kind of one because we live near the ocean.  Yesterday I had to drive an hour to MIL's with her for Good Friday dinner, so today was the only day we could go.  Of course, it's raining cats & dogs, but we went out anyway.  We tried 4 stores, and I finally found the PERFECT basket!  It was exactly what I was looking for, a nice, normal weaved basket only it was square on one side & kind of rounded on the other side, like the shape of a boat.  Well, the stupid store wouldn't sell it to me because it was "for display purposes only"!!!  There was even 2 of them, but they wouldn't sell it to me!  So I tried to get one at the supermarket just for tomorrow & then planned on trying to find one online for next year, and the baskets are all gone!

I'm gonna have to rummage the house for a random basket & pile the grass & toys in there tomorrow.  I'm such a bad mommy :-(

  • You're not a bad mommy!!

We're using a sand bucket as an Easter basket this year, hey, what's more "beacy" than a sand bucket?

  • I didn't get a real basket this year since I am moving and didn't want to break it. So i went to the drugstore and got an easter bucket! LOL!.They have plastic buckets with easter themes and they are cheap. So ds can play with his bucket and keep some toys in it.
  • I'm a worse mommy, I didn't even try to buy her anything.   She's 6 months old, she's never going to remember it.

Honestly, the fact that you're being this hard on yourself concerns me.

  • I'd cut yourself some slack. We're not doing a basket this year since he's too young to even notice. There will be plenty of Easters in the future!

LOL.  There's a hint of sarcasm in my "I'm a bad mommy" comment...I'm mostly annoyed that those people wouldn't sell me the basket.  Also, I realize she won't remember it...we just bought her a few toys.  But when I was born, my parents gave me my MOM's easter basket that she had growing up & that's the basket I got my stuff in every year.  Since my mom still hasn't given me that basket, I had to get DD one & I kinda wanted it to be special.
