2nd Trimester

Paint colors!!!

I don't have bedding picked out (and I probably won't bother, because DD's great-grandmother will be making her a quilt), so I don't have much to match with.....  The floors are a dark espresso laminate.....  DD#1's room is Raspberry Ice (benjamin moore) - it's a really light purply-pink colour.  For DD#2, I want something in the pastel range but not another pinkish room, any suggestions for nice non-pink colours for a girl's room?

*****I know this must annoying because I have nothing to match too.  I guess it's kind of like a blank canvas!!*****

Re: Paint colors!!!

  • A teal, yellow or shade of green would be fun I think! I don't want a pink room either, so we're doing a light green. GL!!

  • You really need to wait until the bedding is done or settled on. No point in painting it something and then having it fight the bedding. Paint should always be the last choice.
  • What about a pale green? Then you can add pinks/purples/blues in the decor.
  • Light sage green.

  • Do a green color... it will go with the floor and you can always add pink and purple girly stuff to it. ?Depending on which green you choose, it might already be girly enough.

I love the idea of teal! ?

::steals this idea for Kayden's nursery::?

I know, I know!!  But, bedding won't be done until when the baby is here and grandma will want to know what colour I want her to make it in (I'm not doing the whole bumper pad/comforter matchy thing)!!  So, I kind of need an idea of where to start with colour......blah...it was so easy with DD#1 - didn't know what she was going to be so we painted her room a pale green originally.....

  • Aqua or Tiffany blue

  • Have you gone to the quilt store yet? My mom is making a quilt for us, so we went to peruse fabrics. I was able to get some inspiration there for the paint colour.

Edit: I ended up loving these

and will now be painting babe's room a muted aqua/robin's egg with orange, brown and mint accents.

  • We were going to go a pale blue like this room:

  • Thanks for the input everyone!  I guess I should check out some fabric first....with DD#1 it was so easy because I knew I wanted some sort of purple!  With this one, I don't even know where to start:)   kind of liking the aqua or teal ideas......
  • We painted our nursery before we even found out we were pg (I needed a project). It's a light blue on top, and a darker, grey-ish blue on bottom with stars. We'll have a white chair rail between the two colors. So, we have a blue girl's nursery.

We won't be doing coordinated bedding b/c it would be too hard to match to the color we've already painted, and the patterns would like compete with the stars on the wall. We also have a homemade quilt coming from someone, and I figure she's just going to be in a swaddle or sleep sack anyway for a long time, so really coordinated bedding didn't seem all that great or useful to us. We won't use a bumper at least at first, and I am going to sew a crib skirt on so that we can store stuff under the crib. I'll just pick up a fabric at the store.

    Dear Bump: You suck.
  • We used secret garden by glidden in our nursery.  Its a really pretty sagey green.

  • I definitely agree with HeyyRed.  Wait until the quilt is done or you can see what she is using.  You don't want the quilt to clash with the walls that you probably won't want to paint again.
  • I just painted my daughter's room a Tiffany blue. It turned out very prettty, warm and girly
  • I agree w/ Red that you want to decide on bedding first probably. DD's room in our current house is a pale yellow (w/ darker but still light stripes on top of a chair rail). We are moving in a few weeks and her new room is going to be pale pink. Her bedding has pink, green and yellow accents.

DC#2's room is going to be painted a pale green color. It's a very similar color to that in the PBK catalog that just came out, with the light blue hot air balloon bedding for boy nursery, near the back of the catalog if you want to try and find it. We figured if it's a girl, we'll accent w/ purples and get purple bedding. If it's a boy, we're going w/ that PBK bedding. We're having our entire new house painted and just wanted it done, which is why we're painting before finding bedding.
