Ugh, DH and I are disgusted

We are watching TV online at hulu, and they keep running this commercial saying they support the "one laptop for every child" campaign.  They have a skinny little black (I know, not pc) child with an accent (making it look like he is in Africa or somewhere similiar) saying "thank you, this has really changed my life."  It's just disgusting.  Heaven forbid we worry about basic human needs like clean water and nourishing food-it's far more important that every child have a laptop!  Of course, as soon as the battery wears out they are fukked-but it's the thought that counts right?

I agree with you but the One Laptop Per Child program is to help educate children in third world countries.  It comes with a foot pedal (think sewing machine) to charge the battery. 

Two years ago I had my class monitor the program so that is why I know so much about it.

This.  It actually seems like a pretty good program seeing that education is the best way out of poverty IMO.
