It reminds me of Odessa, TX and Modesto, CA for some odd reason. I don't like it. Modesta immediately makes me think of Scott Peterson killing his wife. Odessa is def nms. What about Tessa?
I'm going to plead ignorance here, I didn't even know it was a city in Texas, which rules it out completely considering my last name is also a city in Texas.
I picture a dark haired girl with that name as well, I think it's beautiful. I'm not actually pregnant, but we've been discussing it today.
A pp mentioned Dessa as an alternative. Dessa sounds much prettier and more feminine, in my opinion.?
Even though you just mentioned that since it's a city in Texas it won't work with your ?last name, I thought I'd just mention that I grew up near Odessa, TX. And, I hate to say this, but people at my high school called it "Ho"dessa...?
Re: Odessa
Sounds too much like the city in TX.
Hopefully she won't be called Odie!
I'm from Dallas and my first thought was "Midland/Odessa...they have good football there." :-)
But just because it's a town doesn't mean you can't name your child that. Think of all the kids named Austin (ironically, also in Texas)
And, I'm just making an observation: Tessa is going to be the new Emma. I feel it. Don't let people sway you from Odessa. If you like it, go for it.
