i think my new doc thought i was the devil or something when i was iffy on saying whether or not i wanted one, if necessary...

Well I would get one if I needed one. The only other way to increase your blood regarding a necissary trasfution would be saline. I would get a blood transfusion but I have had them before so no biggie to me.

I'd want to see the lab work myself before making a decision. ?If I was unable to due to an emergent situation, I'd expect my husband to decide for me, and chances are, it would not be offered unless it was really needed. ?I'm thinking like hemorrhaging after baby is born. ?

 she doesnt think i need one now..she was asking like if i was bleeding to death on the table would i want one...and i had to debate for a few minutes...

If I needed one, then I would ABSOLUTELY get one.

Honestly, you would rather die than get the blood you need in order to live when it is so accessible, and is an extremely routine procedure?

I'm a nurse and while the logical part of me knows they are thoroughly tested now a days and don't run the risk of contracting HIV or Hep through them as it was decades ago, but the idea of someone else's blood being in me still creeps me out. But in the end, if it was something I needed I would certainly agree.

Um, just FYI they don't offer blood transfusions to just ANYONE.  Blood is an extremely valuable resource, and most docs will not even consider it until the situation becomes life threatening or will become life threatening if left untreated. 

That being said, it is entirely up to you (and I would hope your DH).  There certainly are people that do not believe in receiving blood products, and they still receive care-it is just up to you.  But just remember that your doc isn't going to give you a blood transfusion "just because".

I would get one, they only give it to you if you really need it.
