2nd Trimester

Creative ways to tell Facebook friends?

So we've told everyone that we wanted to tell in person, and now I wanted to make an announcement on Facebook in at least a somewhat creative manner.

I'm due over Thanksgiving, so I considered using "will be setting another place at the table for Thanksgiving" but babies don't need place settings so maybe people won't figure it out.

 Any ideas or suggestions? TIA!

Re: Creative ways to tell Facebook friends?

  • you could say you are "expecting a lil pilgrim or indian".

  • You can use the one about setting an extra place.  That is how I told my family.

    Yeah, nobody would get that.

I don't think being clear and to the point will ruin it. My vote would be for "is pregnant."

  • I tortured a few of my friends by posting

I know something you dont know.......

I kept it up for a couple days with similiar vague posts and wouldnt answer anyone.... hehe

  • Do you have an ultrasound pic?  I'd just nonchalantly post it and see what happens.

  • Just recently I put up a post that said : "any last guesses?  Boy or girl?" and a bunch of people commented and then later in the day I put up the sex.  Everyone was anticipating it all day so it was fun!
  • I posted "<Tantek> and <husband's name> have kept the secret long enough: Baby LastName will be joining the family in late September!"

  • I just changed mine to say "Name is knocked up."
  • I would use Native American in AZ we have lots of NAs and they do not like being called indians they aren't from india. But I ike the little pilgram or native amerian idea.
  • I think direct and to the point is the best way to go with facebook.  like.. "is pregnant"  "is expecting a thanksgiving baby"

all I had to say was "is sick of throwing up" and everyone pretty much guessed!

I did this it was more effective then my wall post.
  • I do have an ultrasound pic but I'm only 13 weeks so it's not really all that clear yet. And I kinda like my current profile picture anyway.

Maybe being clear wouldn't spoil my fun... I was just hoping to be a little creative.

I'm from Canada, so the native/pilgrim theme won't work for me unfortunately.

  • I just said I'm Pregnant! and people went nuts with lots of comments. I'm a straight forward type of gal though.

  • What about skipping the Thanksgiving themed one and go straight to "is adding another stocking over the fireplace this Christmas"

  • My friend said "has a bun in the oven just in time for Thanksgiving"
  • I'm going to do "is busy making a human..."

    I like this one!

The Christmas one wouldn't really work because Canadian Thanksgiving is early October, so that's quite a ways from Christmas, otherwise I think that one is really cute.

I like busy making a human too but it's not really my style.

  • I put....

Briez01 and DH are happy as can be but come October... Baby makes 3!

I was wondering how you and I could both be 13w3d and you were due in the end of November when I'm due in mid-October! Canadian Thanksgiving explains it all.

  • Everyday I posted a different slang term of pregnancy, many of which were not really common here.  It was really funny and I got a lot of fun comments.  I'd put name is "up the duff" or other obscure ones.  The last one I wrote was name's eggo is preggo.......
  • could say something like "is working 24/7 from now until due date"
  • I changed my profile pic to a little "badge" or sorts that says "Due in October" with baby feet. People noticed started commenting.  When people saw other people's comments pop up on their updates, they commented and it just snowballed!

  • I just annouced mine yesterday.  I put '...is turning the spare bedroom into the nursery.'  People got it right away and I didn't feel like a AW by saying 'I'm pregant!'
