I just wanted to let you know that epidurals don't necessarily doom you to be in bed for what seems like an eternity. I was up walking around the room about an hour after I had DD, and my epidural was AMAZING. I think a lot of it has to do with how your labor goes.
I'm a big advocate for epidurals, mostly because I'm TERRIBLE with pain. And for you natural mamas--yeah you're pretty much my heros.
Re: First timers getting an epidural...
I don't know about 'hero' per se. I think of a person I look up to. Just going without the epi doesn't do it for me.
They're WAY stronger than me, though. The thought of going without never crossed my mind. I'd start it at home if they'd let me. BRING IT ON!
I want to go natural but my doc said not to be worried about getting an epidural. Esp. if the baby is as big as they think he is getting.
