We went to the dr. ? Its an ear infection. ?Poor thing. ? No wonder she's been so miserable the last few days. ? She has been really fussy and not herself.?
She has a Rx for amoxicilin so hopefully she feels better soon.
I am waiting for the dr. to call back because I forgot to ask but does anyone know, Is she contagious right now? ? Should we cancel our Easter brunch plans? ? ?
Re: Update on my sick baby
As far as I know an ear infection is not contagious. The cold that usually comes before the ear infection IS contagious, but by the time the ears get infected the cold is usually past it's contagious point.
I hope those antibiotics work pronto and Evie feels 100% for all your Easter activities! They usually do work quickly, thankfully!

Ugh, Dr. Ani was running down the list of side effects and I was so not enthused. ? Diarrhea being the biggest thing. ?I have never dealt with that and not excited. ? Having to watch for an allergic reaction rash... ? I am nervous to give her the antibiotic but I know its for the best.?
Ok, now to let anyone we've seen this week know....
Hey Michelle- you are right the antibiotics can be really rough on their little tummies..Cadence got horrible diaper rash a few times then our pedi finally told us to use Culturelle..it is a probiotic. We used it the whole time she was on the antibiotics this last time and no diarrhea! Since it is Evie's first time on the antibiotic the pedi might want you to wait and see if diarrhea is even a side effect for her, but it's worth asking..that stuff is a lifesaver!

Hey Michelle, Kate has had like at least 15 ear infections (before the tubes and a couple after). They are not contagious... so don't worry about that at all.
The cold that caused it probably WAS, but i wouldn't cancel any plans. Also amoxicillan is the mildest of all the antibiotics. She should do fine on the pink stuff with little to no side effects. I think they just have to tell you that because maybe 1 out of 10 kids has some sort of side effect. If it was augmentim, I would say prepare for the explosive diapers
... I haven't heard of anyone who DIDN'T have a poopy problem with it!
She will be feeling great shortly after that first dose, and I bet by tomorrow night, she's back to normal. Good luck!

If she gets diarreah, give her some probiotics or yogurt w/ live cultures. Also, the antibiotics usually cause a yeast diaper rash for Gavin. Put lotrimin cream on it and then cover that w/ A&D ointment. It will clear it up in 1 night! If she does get diarreah and the rash worsens, do Maalox w/ A&D and then alternate that w/ the lotrimin and A&D. I mean it, works like magic. But seriously, Gavin usually feels better w/in 24 hours of starting the antibiotics. Plus he loves that stuff- he gets so excited when I get out the medicine bottle- lol! She's not contagious so don't worry about that. Hope she feels better soon!
I feel much better. ?Thanks. ?Lori, I did think of you when I was driving home because I felt so bad for my baby girl and I had no idea how you've dealt with this so many times.?
I spoke to the doctors office and she didn't think it was necessary to "warn" the other moms that we've seen this week. ?
But since you all read this anyway, you know. ? ?
