cooker

I love your house.  I always marvel at your front door when you've posted your belly pics.  Is it a bungalow?  I can tell it is a Craftsman-style house which is my FAVE.  We have a Craftsman bungalow ourselves.  We don't have a fireplace, though.  *pout*

Re: cooker

  • Oh THANKS!! We love it too, just moved in last June and have done a lot of work to it since then (it had been abandoned for over a year when we moved in).

It is a craftsman style bungalow, and the fireplace/built-in bookcases were one of the big reasons we bought it. I love all the woodwork and love old houses so it's been a great fit so far.

Do you guys have any built-ins in your place? Original woodwork??

  • No built-ins.  :(  We do have all original woodwork, hardwood floors, and glass doorknobs, though.

My (craptastic) IL's also have a Craftsman bungalow.  Their fireplace is similar to yours in that it has the built-in bookcases and windows above them.  Their fireplace is flush with the bookcases and the mantel runs the length of the wall over the top of it all.

Is yours a story and a half?  Ours isn't...at this point.  We plan on finishing our attic eventually.  My IL's have 2 huge bedrooms upstairs in theirs, though.

We've done a ton of work to ours, too.  I have pictures if you ever want to see.

  • Very cool. I love the glass doorknobs. I wish we had hardwood floors in more than just the office, but that will have to wait until another year, or whenever we have some money again. ;)

We actually have a full two stories, so I don't know if that makes it not a bungalow then?? Our bedrooms are all upstairs, which will make it a challenge when BSF arrives since I'm having another c-section. Our last house only had one floor so it was easier to get around.....

I'd love to see pics sometime!!?

  • Ah, I wish we had a second story.  We have plenty of sq. footage, but I think it would be nice to have the bedrooms away from the rest of the living areas.  I think we'll end up refinishing the basement before we take on the attic.  We'll have to put in stairs and a floor to even get started up there.  Someday...

I'll PM you a link to my pictures.
