I need a good middle name for Ella and Makayla. I don't like the way any family names sound with them, and I am having a hard time finding middle names I like. Any suggestions?
Also, are there any longer versions of Ella besides Isabella?
Besides Isabella, Ella could also be short for Arabella, Mariella, Elizabeth/Elisabeth, Eloise, or Eleanor.
If you're going to use Michaela, please spell it correctly.
There are tons of middle names that would sound lovely with Michaela or any variant of Ella. I'm hesitant to make suggestions without knowing at least something about your name preferences.

Makayla is an appropriate spelling. It may not be the original, but it's not spelled incorrectly. I prefer Makayla to Michaela and it's a lot more popular on the SSA list. ?
All baby name website list Makayla as a form of Michaela. I'm not sure why you haven't seen this spelling before. You said it was spelled wrong. It's not.?
To be honest, I have trouble pronouncing it when spelled Michaela. I see how it is the "classic" spelling, but plenty of people use Makayla now too. Jut like Michele can be one or two l's, Amy can be Aimee, Alan can be Allen and on and on.

I should elaborate. Just because people decide they prefer to spell a certain established name in a different way - even if lots of people do this and it climbs up the SSA list - that doesn't make it a correct spelling of the name. It's a made-up spelling. The name Michaela is a feminization of the name Michael. The "name" Makayla is a modern, phonetic bastardization of the name Michaela.

Okay, but you said to spell it correctly. I was saying that Michaela is not the only way to spell it.?

Get off your power trip. I'm not a fan of "misspellings" but only when it comes down to people adding random letters in an already perfectly normal name... like Lyndsy or Lyndsee... I like Lindsey or Lindsay better. I have seen this name spelled Michaela, Mackayla, Makayla, McKayla. There is nothing wrong with the spelling form she is choosing.... at least its not Meekaylah!!

I'm not sure how "power trip" applies here. What power am I wielding? I'm just stating facts. And I don't see how Lindsey vs. Lyndsee and Michaela vs. Makayla are any different. It's the exact same thing.

OK I'm just a lurker but I'm pretty offended right now. My name is KRISTYN! yes thats right with a Y its not the "normal" way to spell it but i love the fact that my mom decided to make my name spelled with a Y instead of an e or an i or even spelling my name with a ch! I'm just saying i think its very unique way to make your child feel special even when they have a common name.

Love the names you chose by the way and the already mentioned middle names of Jane, Claire, Grace, etc. All great choices:)
Just to add my 2 cents worth: Name spellings, just as all english word spellings, have evolved through time. If we had stuck with original or classic spellings our language would look a whole lot different. Plus, there are also regional spellings for words just as there are for names and it doesn't make one more right than the other. So, really as long as it can be pronounced how it looks - why worry about it? There are a ton of spellings for my name (Alicia) and non of them are considered wrong. I think Makayla is a perfectly acceptable spelling choice. It's quite lovely, really:)
