Less than a week. And we were in co-sleeping-nursing all night-up until 1AM and then up every 1.5 hour-hell. Now she goes down babbling and happy usually at 7 and sleeps until 7 or 7:30 in the morning. She is up twice at night, but she is fairly easy to get back down.
I posted below, but I'll post here as well...did you ladies read a book, or just take tips online, or what? I'm desperate for sleep! He's sick right now so obviously I wouldn't try anything this week...but I need some kind of help. He's up usually 3-4 times a night and I have nights alone.

I'm so glad to read this - I could have written it! We also co-sleep and nurse all night long to the tune of every 1.5 hours most nights. I didn't think I would ever turn to Ferber but I am just out of ideas and everyone is constantly tired. I hope we are as successful as you!

I read Ferber's book and it is very good. Definitely worth buying. It is so much more than CIO. He even gives info on toddlers' sleep problems. We haven't tried CIO yet, b/c our babysitter won't do it for naps. Also, DS sometimes sleeps over at my Mom's and she won't do it either. So, since I will have the summer off, we are going to do it then and DS won't be allowed to sleep over at anyone's house until we are finished with it.
I just read tips on -line and at babycenter.com. I was DESPERATE when I read up on it on a Sunday night I tried to get the book but B&N was closed so we started that night. It only took us about 3 days. NOW I am thinking about getting the book because I need tips on how to get rid of the rocking, bouncing and swaddling to sleep. I would like to be able to put him bed drowsy but awake and have him fall off to la la land. But when I was waking up every hour for MONTHS I figure thats a small price to pay
It was really bad for like 3-4 days/nights (the worst moment was when he cried on and off for an hour-- beyond that it was never more than 15 minutes). ?He went from no naps to 2 hours of naps/day (either one big nap or 2 hour naps) and went from up 2 times/night to sleeping 11-12 hours straight. ?I would recommend Ferber to anyone.
I read a bunch of sleep books, including Ferber's and Sleepeasy Solution, which is similar to Ferber.?

Ditto this except DD also managed to cut out her night feedings. It is seriously heaven on earth (except for being super engorged from not having her "snack" all night)! The first 4-5 nights were VERY rough and it took nearly an hour of progressive checks (she settled down much sooner, but still had periods of crying). I won't lie, I cried too, but it was the best decision ever. Good luck and don't give in!!!

Took a week. Now DD doesn't eat at night anymore.
Baby 441 is also a great book.
