Multiples

If you remember your hcg levels, I have a ?

I talked to the doctor's office today. They don't have the progesterone result back yet, but my hcg is 34,000. She said this isn't enough to tell her yet if this is an abnormal pregnancy or if it's twins. But, since I'm freaking out, I thought I would again pick your brains. I know it's not a lot to go on, but do you remember your hcg at around 6-9 weeks? :o) Grasping at straws and probably annoying to you, but I'm looking for anything here. Thanks!

  • I want to say around 7 weeks mine was 125,000. I went to the ER and they had to draw it. Thats about all I remember.

    Melissa :)?

  • are you the one who's ticker is off? B/c at 10w an US will show twins or not (but i think you posted yesterday that the ticker was off?) lol

i can tell you that my betas were similar for both my singleton pg and my twin pg - i don't remember what they were at that stage- but they mirrored my first pg.... betas really don't indicate twins.

  • OK thanks, that all actually helps a lot. The doc said hgc alone wasn't enough info also, but I can't just sit here and not ask. I'm just trying to prepare myself for whatever's coming. Thanks ladies.

  • At 7 weeks mine was somewhere around 100,000.  The RE told me at 4 weeks twins were a possibility given the numbers but said he needed to do a an u/s and could not tell just on the beta numbers alone.  We had an u/s at 5 weeks and there were two sacs.

  • my numbers are in my sig... but like pp's said, numbers alone won't tell you if you're having multiples - an ultrasound to date the pregnancy would be able to.  we saw two distinct sacs from 5 weeks on - i have pics in my blog.
  • Since you can only get pregnant when you have sex and I must've ovulated late I think I am probably about 6 weeks today, which means I was about 5w 4d at the u/s and blood draw. It appeared to be two sacs, or at least one with a separation line in it. I'm hoping that it was just too early to see anything and that there is at least one baby in there! Doc won't commit, which I understand since everything is still so unclear right now. We'll know more after next week's u/s. Thanks for all the info!

  • Ugh, this must be eating you up inside!  When is your next u/s?  I can't remember my hcg levels, but I know they more than doubled each time I had them drawn.  I went for my first u/s at about 5 weeks maybe a little after that and all we saw was a sack.  At 6 or 7 weeks we saw two babies.  I wish you a lot of luck and some answers soon!

This is what I am hoping to happen for us! My u/s is the 16th and I am praying there's something there--even one heartbeat! I'm staying away from google because I am just scaring myself and I am trying to think positive: the hcg is good, I feel pg, and it was probably just too early when I went in on the 7th. They haven't asked me to come back for a repeat hcg to see how it's growing. I'm trying not to make myself crazy, but I'm having a hard time thinking about anything else.

  • I wish the best of luck at your ultrasound. I agree staying away from google is always safe. But here is an interesting link that I used for our beta numbers, but I don't know our HGG numbers.

  • I had my hgc checked last Thursday and Saturday -- so I was between 7 and 8 weeks.  I was at 77,000 on Thursday and 101,000 on Friday.  They had me go in for a follow-up u/s on Wednesday and we found out we're having fraternal twins!!!
