Is it all men or just my DH?

Are all men incapable of being quiet???? ?No matter how many times I remind him, my DH stomps down the hall, leaves his office door open while he yells on the phone, uses his nail gun, table saw, whatever, etc. when Lily is napping. ? I have bitched him out, tried to talk to him nicely, glared at him and none of it works. ?I can't do the you wake her, you take her because he is supposed to be working.?

I am at my wits end and about to tell him that if he can't be quiet for a freakin' hour and a half twice a day, then he is not going to be allowed to work from home anymore.

Vent over.

  • Honestly, I think DH is more anal than I am. One of our dogs woke DD up from a nap the other day and I walked in just in time to save said puppy from certain demise.

  • My DH is OVERLY quiet when DS is sleeping. But he doesn't use a nail gun or table saw! LOL!
  • LOL - my DH is like that too! And when I tell him to be quiet he gets all defensive about it.
  • Its my DH too.  He is so LOUD!  Is is always slamming doors and stuff.  SHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

  • i think it's most men, at least the ones I know. We don't really try to be quiet though. The kids have learned to fall asleep with noise and such, and have no problem sleeping through it. I know that's not realistic for every child, but we just carry on with our normal business, and they have adapted. It comes in handy when travelling too.

Is he actually waking her up most of the time, are you afraid he is going to?

  • The same thoughts about my DH were just going through my head.  On the way out the door this morning, he dropped his plate in the sink, stomped around, slammed the door, came back in talking loudly on the phone, slammed the door again, and called me on the phone.  All this while DD is trying t o go down for a nap.  He is oblivious, I guess.
  • No my DH is similar. He yelled at the TV last night during the Cubs game and woke DD. We had never heard her cry they way she did; I think he really scared her. Then this morning he set off our house alarm which woke her up at 6 instead of 7. I feel your pain!

  • At night we can make all the noise we want and she won't wake up. ?It is just during the day that louder noises bother her. ?Normal walking, the TV on downstairs, the dryer on down the hall and even our dog outside barking, doesn't bother her.

It took me a long time to get her to nap so well in her crib and she is super grumpy when she doesn't nap enough, so I am a bit anal about it.?

  • I am pretty sure it's all men. ?My H and my Dad are both like this.

  • I could have written this post!!! ?And when my DH does goes into the office, he wakes DS up while he's getting ready. ?

I don't know what to tell you??? ??

  • my DH can barely hang a picture let alone use a nail gun or table saw.  I'd be so happy if he did, that I'd let him wake up the whole neighborhood. :)

But, to answer your question, yes, he has no concept of quiet when DS is sleeping... more along the lines of the TV blasting than table saws, but the same issue nonetheless.
