I posted on the sex and romance board on the nest but i was referred to over here. I was told I would find more women here with PCOS.
?
I have recently been clinically diagnosed with PCOS.
I was wondering if any one has (PCOS) can give me a little reassurance about the disease and share your stories with me.TIA!??
Re: PCOS
NOTE: Not TTC as of now but would also like pointers for myself for when we do TTC.
Again, TIA!?
I have PCOS. There's a great pcosbio on the next somewhere. ?It has lots of information and helpful links.
My one pointer for TTC: Don't try for a year before going to the doctor. ?
There are alot of women up here with PCOS. It doesn't mean you can't get pregnant or that you will have trouble. Some ppl with PCOS do just fine, and some don't. If you don't ovulate on your own, then you will need something like clomid to help you ovulate. I would ask your dr. about metformin a few months b4 you TTC (if not now!) b/c it takes about 3 months to have a theraputic effect
I also recommend charting your cycles - taking you BBT (basal body temp), cervical mucous, etc. Fertility friend is an excellent site that allows you to keep up with all this info.
Changing your diet can also be beneficial.
There are also good books on PCOS that really explain what it is and ways to help manage it.
GL!

I was diagnosed with PCOS a little over a year ago and I wasn't TTC. I was put on BC so I could get my cycle every month. I also was put on Metformin which is an experience on its own. I have read books on PCOS, try The Insulin Resistance Diet by Dr. Cheryl Hart and the most helpful (I think) is called A Patients Guide to PCOS: Understanding--and Reversing--Polycystic Ovary Syndrome by Walter Futterweit M.D. My dr. told me that if I lost wieght it would help regulate my horomones and I should start cycling again on my own. Well, that's easier said than done, for me anyway. I have been working out 3 times a week with a personal trainer. I have lost inches but not weight. I tried weight watchers but that didn't work for me. I try to eat more proteins than carbs because that is what the insulin resistance diet book says to do. I have done a ot of research on the web about PCOS and its turns out it is more common than I thought. PCOS sucks but I have found comfort in knowing I am not alone and neither are you.
