I was having one of those days this past weekend--maybe you saw my post about 2 inches of water in both my master bath and our basement thanks to Katy playing fireman with the handshower on our garden tub.
Anyway--while I was cleaning up, I had a friend call and announce (on my voicemail) that she was bringing her kids over at 4 to meet the new baby and visit Katy. Of course, I didn't check my messages until about 10 to 4--too late to call and cancel. I was quite put out, to say the least.
But when my friend arrived, she had 2 frozen casseroles, which was great. More importantly, she saw the new baby for all of 2 minutes, then said she was taking all the kids outside to play. She stayed in our yard and played with her 2 and my Katy for 2 hours. Poor Katy has been stuck inside with me for 3 weeks and has been playing 2nd fiddle. It was GREAT to see her running around, having a blast with some kids her own age. And it was such a tremendous break for me--two whole hours to do nothing but cuddle and rest with DC#2 without DC#1 trying to climb on top of him.
So if you know a new (2nd time) mom, a cute outfit is nice, but if you could give her the gift of a couple hours, that would be awesome!
