I don't really use the swing (we just have a small travel sized one). I wear kiddo while doing stuff around the house. If DH isn't home when I shower, I put him in his bouncer.
I have been swingless up until 2 days ago when my Mom came over and had bought Sam the FP Precious Planet swing! I love all the music and the speeds and how it goes side to side and front to back! I don't know how we lived with out one or the last 2 1/2 months
We don't have a swing for DS... i didn't use one with DD either.
I wear DS in a sling while I get things done at home. He also loves being in his jumperoo or if I really need to I put him in the pack in play with a few toys.
I tend to shower at night once the kids go to bed so I can truly have a moment to myself without worry.
I hear ya. We use the bouncy chair, but same thing. Now he also likes his exersaucer. Same deal--it allows me to shower when DS is awake. (I also wear him a lot but I think it's fine if he has "his own time" without me holding or wearing him!)
Unfortunately, my daughter hates her swing and will only tolerate her bouncer for about 10 minutes. I don't get anything done around the house!
Never fear, my DS was the same way until about 6-7 weeks, then he started liking both the swing and bouncer.

You have given me hope We did break out the playmat yesterday and she seems to enjoy that though. I still don't get anything done though because I want to play with her!
