I've been up for awhile and can't sleep...thank goodness for
wireless internet and laptops! When I went for my appointment
yesterday the midwife said that the baby was extremely low, at 0, and
that I was a "good" 4. She
was like, "When this baby comes, he's going to come fast!" which, of
course, freaked me out. I got so worried that we wouldn't make it to
the hospital in time, or that it would happen so fast that I'd have to
do it without the epidural. I felt pretty crampy all afternoon and at
about 5 the contractions were coming regularly. They were still very
early contractions, and they weren't super painful, but definitely more
uncomfortable than they've been all along. I finally called the doctor
at like 7:30 and they said to come up. They monitored me, checked me,
had me walk, monitored me some more, and finally at 12:30 I was 6cm so
they wouldn't let me go home (not that I wanted to! I would never want
to be 45 minutes away and 6cm!) The contractions really haven't gotten
much stronger/more frequent though, so I'm just kind of sitting here.
Since I'm Group B Strep positive this time I have to have penicillin in
an IV, and that is taking awhile, so I guess it's good that we came here
earlier than we really needed to. I miss Claire so much, and I am
definitely hating being away from home without her. I also wish that
this show would get moving already...we probably could have stayed home
so much longer, but it was just too hard to judge this time. They said
they would break my water once I finished all the medicine, so
hopefully things will really speed up then. So much for a scary, crazy-fast drive-thru delivery! I must admit, I'm glad we avoided that
Re: Hi from the hospital!
Good luck!
I wouldn't want to be that far away at 6 cm, either. Yikes.
