Just curious how many of you tried to plan ahead for bedrest. What did you get ready? What did you use to entertain yourself? What do you wish you had that you forgot to get? Did you gather all of the things before or send your DH out for things?
What do you suggest getting/having? How did you cope with bedrest?
How long were you on bedrest, and at what point did you begin? Once on bedrest, were you released before the babies arrived? When did this occur?
TIA!!
Re: Bedrest Questions
Well, I think there's only so much you can do to plan for bedrest. I was pregnant with triplets and never put on what would be considered real bed rest. I took it easy b/c my body would not let me do anything else. I reached a point too where I just couldn't do anything.
Every pregnancy is different.
i was on bedrest for 6w with my first pg - so this time i have sort of prepared... i have books i want to read here.... i have a list of things i want to get done on the computer (organize all my digital photos, make another photobook, take a photoshop course online, etc)
having lots of comfy clothing that you fit into is nice.... and if/when you are BR it's nice to have friends come by during the day with lunch now and then- that helped to keep me sane.
Many women w/ multl. end up on bedrest but there's no way to tell b/f it happens. I guess I was thinking I might get pulled from work about a month prior to delivery but when I was put on bedrest at wk 22, I was TOTALLY surprised. I was contracting regularly (although I couldn't really feel them) and in order to avoid PTL, my dr gave me bedrest.
We had ordered the nursery furniture but that's it. Ya know, things get put in perspective when your cookin' your kids...w/ the help of my dh and mom, everything got done...even if it wasn't me going out and doing it all.
I was never released b/f the babies came at 37wks.
good luck
The only planning ahead I did was to warn my employer early on that bedrest was a possibility. I went on bedrest at 26 weeks and was on it until I delivered at 34 weeks. The main things that helped me get through it were having my husband leave me a cooler with snacks, watching WAY too much TV and having a laptop nearby.
I also slept a LOT. Now I kind of miss the sleeping
