Katherine because i've known several and they all spell it with a K, including my best friend. however, if i had to guess i would think that Catherine is the most common spelling. i would not think of kathryn at all, i don't like that spelling.

Katherine, because that is how most of them that I have seen are spelled. But I like Catherine more. I wouldn't think of Kathryn but I don't have any hard feelings against it either.

I have an Aunt Kathryn so instinctively that's how I spell it. I'm not going to name my daughter with that spelling because I'm naming my daughter after my grandma Catherine not after my aunt. My grandma Catherine didn't know her name was spelt with a C until she was in her older adult years so that's why I'm open to Katherine too since she spelt it that way most of her life. ?
Catherine. I have 3 really good friends named Catherine. All 3 go by Catie (and yes, they all know each other well - they're my sorority sisters and each other's big/little sisters).
I see Katherine more frequently, and I'm also a Katherine. ?"erine" is most common; she will always be asked if it's with a C or K, so pick whichever you like best.

I think Katharine when I hear that name...I prefer the "tha" versus "the". I think because one of my favorite actresses Katharine Hepburn spelled hers that way.
I actually would just ask. I have known so many and they all spell it differently. Presently, I know two Catherines, one Katherine, and I went to college with at least a half dozen that all spelled it differently. ?My favorite is probably Kathryn or Catherine. ?But if you want to call her Katie, I'd stick with one of the K spellings. ?

Katherine. This seems to be the most common spelling.
I think that Kathryn with a Y is fairly uncommon (because people like the nickname Katie), although possibly getting more common recently.
Catherine is definitely increasing in popularity, though.
Oh, and after reading all the other responses, I'll add this --
She will usually be asked if it is with a "C" or a "K." However, people will just assume that it is "erine" and not "ryn" -- trust me on this.
