I just saw a post below that said something about being out of stage 1 for solids. What are the stages? Anna will be 6 months in a few days, and we just started feeding her oatmeal last night. I'm heading to the store today to pick up some additional cereals and fruits/veggies for her. I've noticed stage numbers on the foods before, but I never really looked into it. Should she be on stage 2 now since she's 6 months or do you always start at stage 1?
Re: What are the stages of solid feeding?
I bought a couple of jars of Stage 1 when we first started but they were too runny especially since we had been feeding him oatmeal. So we basically started with Stage 2's. They were a little thicker and he took them better.
I believe the stages are just how thick they are.
Start w/stage 1 and once she's gotten through all of those, move to stage 2. They get thicker as you move onto stage 2, and usually add an ingredient above the basic plain fruit/veggie that she may not have had yet. Stage 3 is more combos, plus adds small chunks.
I have noticed that Gerber foods are watery no matter which stage so I like to stick w/Beechnut jars (if you aren't making homemade, or if your DD doesn't like cereal mixed in... My DD hates it.) An occasional Earth's Best also, when I can find an interesting flavor (which seems to be hard to come by in my area for some reason.)
